History
In 1908, on the Sant Pere Més Baix street de Barcelona, a group of friends interested in dance in general and specifically for these of our country, Catalonia, they wrote and signed the Statutes of a new entity called Esbart Català de Dansaires. It happened over a hundred years ago. If you want to know your history, you can select the period you want.
1930 - 1938
Splendor and creativity
The decade of the 30s was a time of strong activity marked by important events, both from the point of view of associations (Esbart celebrates its 25th anniversary) and the social and historical context. The outbreak of the Civil War turns life around the country and the history of the organization also suffers. These events force him to continue working in secrecy to keep the work begun in the early twentieth century.
At that time, under the direction of Antoni Casalí, the organization is now known all over the Catalan region and its participation in festivals, cultural events and solidarity is now more than usual.
On those early years is dated the recovery La Quadrilla of Granollers and Ballet of St. Vicenç de Montalt (1930); Ball de Nans of Olot, Ball de Cavallets of Olot and Ball de Nans of Berga (1932); Ball Pla of St. Vincent de Montalt (1933) and the Ball de Gitanes of Argentona (1935).
