History
In 1908, on the Sant Pere Més Baix street de Barcelona, a group of friends interested in dance in general and specifically for these of our country, Catalonia, they wrote and signed the Statutes of a new entity called Esbart Català de Dansaires. 1976 - 1992
The post-Franco stage and new municipalities
The new political phase experienced by the Spanish State not immediately represents major changes in the life of Esbart Català de Dansaires. The most common attitude in society is the expectation of the changes that can lead afterward death of Franco and the consequent political change; like the rest of society, the Esbart Català de Dansaires begins 1976 without knowing exactly what will happen.
This year surprisingly, the proposal still active Women's Section Spanish Falage and JONS to pay tribute to Esbart Catalan Dansaires for being the oldest esbart and repository of much of the knowledge and information about Catalan dance. Sarrat, President of the organization, moved the proposal to the Board the same month of January and all components, leery, agree to leave the moment, the proposal unanswered.
The activity of this year, which began with a dance on L'Hospitalet de Llobregat to mark the Day of the Kings, is very focused on the children's section and Youth. On March 13 organized a first meeting of esbarts and on 31 July a children's party, both acts performed on Penya Cultural Barcelonesa. Between both of them, children and youth dancers attended the XX gathering of Montserrat Esbarts, that this year falls on the 27th of May.
